Welcome to the Pennsylvania Turnpike. Information about tolls along the highway. The NIKE Site. When my father was in the military, we used to live on a base in Michigan with a Nike Missile site. Welcome to Morehead City, North Carolina. A tourist orientated web site. Some useful stuff, but it's filthy with the excretement of advertizements. Irelandseye.com - The Culture, History and Tradition of Ireland. LOts of interesting stuff. I'd love to visit there one day. Iceland on the Web. Another place that I'd like to go to. Boulder Colorado Convention and Visitors Bureau. Boulder is a really beautiful city, at the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. It's expensive too. Don't live there-- just visit. South Carolina State Parks. Some of these parks are mostly for camping, others have large natural areas. Many are near I-95. Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge. Located in a remote area of North Carolina is this area of swampy escape from civilisation. Division of Parks and Recreation--Hammocks Beach State Park. This park is accessable by passenger ferry, or personal watercraft. A three mile long island with sand dunes up to 60 feet tall, it's a park worth visiting. Great unspoiled beaches, and the whitest sand on the North Carolina coast. And, best of all, not a condo or motel on the island. NC Rail-Trails and Projects. Mostly an overview of the projects, but little information on the trails themselves. North Carolina National Forests. While not truly parks, the forests offer much of what the parks do. Hiking, camping, fishing, and hunting. Here's a lot of information about the forests. Division of Parks and Recreation--Eno River State Park. Located near Durham, this park has miles of hiking trails, small mountains which I consider hills, and a rocky river with rapids. There's also a suspension foot bridge across the river. A beautiful place. Some trails along the river are fairly level. Swimming is allowed. Division of Parks and Recreation--William B. Umstead State Park. Located near Raleigh and Durham, this natural area is surrounded by suburban sprawl, and, unfortunately, adjacent to Raleigh Durham International Airport-- RDU. There are also large power lines crossing through the park Still, it's a great escape for so close to town. Features miles of trails, and a small lake. Terrain ranges from fairly level to rocky hills. It can be very crowded and hard to find parking on weekends. Division of Parks and Recreation--Pilot Mountain State Park. Camping, and some trails. This park is near the middle of nowhere, but close to the new I-74 for easy access, and not that far from Winston-Salem. |
